Text is extracted on this device. Importing does not use your word allowance.

Running an AI tool counts the words you submit toward that tool’s allowance, regardless of page or paragraph count. PDF import reads selectable text; it does not check the file for tampering.

How to check for plagiarism

  1. Prepare a meaningful passage

Submit between 300 and 2,000 words. Use a coherent section of an article, report or assignment. Keep references nearby so you can check each match against its attribution.

  2. Review the returned matches

Read the available matching passages and source links. Check that a linked page really contains the wording in question; a result is a starting point for comparison.

  3. Resolve the attribution

Decide whether a passage is an accurately attributed quotation, a shared phrase or material needing a citation. Revise the text and reference together where necessary.

A match needs context

Illustrative situations when reviewing a similarity report
What you findWhat to checkPossible next step
An exact quotationQuotation marks, author and source are present and accurate.Keep the quotation if its use is appropriate.
A distinctive paragraph with no citationCompare the original source and your draft.Attribute the source or replace the passage with your own supported explanation.
A conventional phraseWhether the match is just common wording.Review the surrounding passage before drawing a conclusion.
No reported matchWhether the source could be outside the service’s coverage.Continue your normal citation and editorial checks.

Similarity checking is different from AI detection

Similarity checking compares wording with sources available to the service. AI detection estimates patterns associated with generated writing. A person can copy a passage, and an AI-assisted draft can contain accurate citations. Neither result answers the other question.

A similarity percentage alone cannot establish plagiarism. Quotations, references and common phrases can contribute to matches. Equally, no reported match does not certify originality: private documents, unindexed pages or other unavailable material may not be represented. Check AI does not claim access to every academic or private database.

For a student, review sources before submitting and follow your institution’s rules. For an editor or journalist, check quotation accuracy and attribution in context. For an agency, use the report alongside the brief, source notes and the author’s explanation, rather than as an automatic rejection rule.

Questions about plagiarism

Which plan includes plagiarism checking?

Plagiarism checking is included in Pro, Max and Scale, with a separate monthly allowance. Each check requires 300–2,000 words; only the submitted words are deducted. Check the pricing page for current availability; paid plans may be closed during early access.

Does a high similarity score prove plagiarism?

No. Review what matched, how much context is shared and whether the material is attributed. A similarity report cannot make the ethical, academic or legal judgment for you.

Are all books, journals and private documents checked?

No complete coverage is promised. Matches depend on the sources available to the processing service. A missing result may reflect coverage, not the originality of the text.

What happens to the text I submit?

The submitted text is sent to external processing services. Completed results are saved privately in your account. Read Privacy & text processing before sending confidential material, and only submit text you are authorized to share.
